The monastery is situated in a beautiful location near the village of Panagia and the forest west of Paphos. Founded in 1152 AD by the monk Ignatius, who found Moulia the miraculous image of the Virgin Mary in Paphos and which according to tradition, is painted by Saint Luke. Ignatius moved the picture to the mountain and built the monastery, which was dedicated to the Virgin Chrysorrogiatissa. The monastery, whose current buildings date from 1770, has a significant collection of icons and treasures. Take note of any religious services or ceremonies that may be taking place, and be respectful of the religious environment.

We begin our descent back to Pafos through the Forest. The forest is located in the western part of Cyprus which it is best known for its dense pine forests, providing a refreshing and serene environment.

In the center of Cyprus lies the heart of nature, Troodos Mountains. The highest point in the mountain range is Mount Olympus which is found at 1952 meters. Although Troodos is in the center of Cyprus it mostly ranges toward the western side of the island. The most interesting fact about Troodos mountains is that they are known worldwide due to its geology and what is found in the earth. Another interesting fact about the mountains here are that Troodos houses one of the five most copper rich areas found worldwide.

Heading to Troodos Square, the central point of the Troodos mountain range  and a popular destination for visitors seeking a blend of natural beauty, cultural exploration, and relaxation. Take in the panoramic views and explore the area.

Visit the Throne Hill, where the tomb of Archbishop Makarios III, the first President of Cyprus and a significant political and religious figure resides. At the entrance of the Throne Hill you are greeted by the bronze statue of Makarios. You will then make your way along the path. You will see the circular path that takes you to Makarios Tomb and then there is another pathway that takes you to the hill top where the Throne is. There is also another pathway that takes you to the Monastery. All along these paths you are surrounded by the wonderful forest and mountain views of Troodos. Once at the top of the mountain embrace the spectacular 360° views of endless mountains, valleys, trees, skies, clouds and nature. Find a spot to sit and take it all in, the clean fresh mountain air and the beauty of mother nature.

Head towards Kykkos Monastery, one of the most significant religious sites in Cyprus. Located in the mountainous region of Marathasa Valley, the Monastery of Kykkos is the wealthiest and most lavish on the island, and stands on a mountain peak, at an altitude of 1.318 metres.Dedicated to Panagia (the Virgin Mary), the monastery possesses one of three icons attributed to Agios Loukas (Apostle Luke) the Evangelist. The icon – covered in silver gilt – is in a shrine made of tortoiseshell and mother-of-pearl that stands in front of the iconostasis.

Enjoy two hours of free time to further explore the area or simply to have a lunch at a local taverna in Pedoulas Village. Try traditional Cypriot dishes and savor the mountain atmosphere.

Our first stop of our journey will be at Omodos, a charming wine village in the Troodos Mountains of Cyprus, which offers a delightful experience with its traditional atmosphere, historical sites, and local wine culture. Despite its small size, Omodos has many interesting sights. Located within close proximity of one another are the cobbled square, old stone-built houses, local wineries, a Medieval wine press and the monastery of Timios Stavros (Holy Cross), with its old icons and impressive woodcarvings.

The coach will leave you at the original pick up point at the end of the tour. Several stops will be made to drop off all travellers who joined the tour.

Enjoy the scenic drive and capture any sights you might have missed on the way.
